Depression comes in many different kinds of ways and can also exist in different forms. Depression though in its many forms is still dangerous to a person’s emotional life which has an effect on how he lives his physical life. When left untreated, depression can result in dead through suicide and eating disorders but most of the time it leaves people with low self-esteem and low self confidence, disallowing them a chance to life their lives to its maximum potential.
1. Clinical depression
This is the most common type of depression that people know about and is the classic case of depression or more commonly known as clinical depression.
Psychiatrists claim such kinds of depression as the type which sits at the gloom end of the spectrum and is often named the “uni-polar depression”. People who suffer from clinical depression are likely to be sad all day long, and are not able to control it. They also prefer to stay sad for long periods of time and hate themselves for who they are and are unable to come to terms with flaws in their own character.
Constant supervision on such people is very much needed as they may resort to different kinds of ways to deal with the unbearable pain they inflict on themselves emotionally. In some cases, they even translate such pain to their own bodies and most common kinds of injuries they inflict on themselves would be slitting of their own wrists. Thus, medication is important for such people to prevent them from going to the extremes of suicide when he has a ‘relapse’ and starts to fall into self-hate.
2. Chronic Depression
Sufferers of chronic depression usually experiences depression in a milder way as compared to those suffering from a major depression. Even though such kinds of depression may be milder in nature, chronic depression sufferers still would go through days of feeling hopeless, sad and have similar symptoms that are associated with depression which can become full blown if not treated properly.
People suffering from chronic depression often become victims of major depression itself as treatment is often not sought after. With each day’s dose of sadness accumulating over the years, it would one day overwhelm the person leading to major depression.
3. Psychotic Depression
Another type of depression is psychotic depression is psychotic depression which is also considered the most severe of all depressions. Such type of depression can even cause hallucination or even cause the victim to hear voices that are not there and often cause people to become delusional. Without proper treatment by psychiatrists, such people can suffer from a mental breakdown and become insane.
